Aye Aye is a senior member of our Ascent team, and joined Ascent since its inception in 2018. She is responsible for financial planning and reporting, fund and treasury management, as well as overseeing the internal controls, audit and tax matters. She is also responsible for smooth running of office operations. She has over 20 years of experience in Myanmar and Singapore. Before joining Ascent, she worked as a Senior Finance Manager at a leading conglomerate in Myanmar. Aye Aye holds a BSc in Mathematics from the Yangon University, Myanmar.

Founder and Managing Partner

Chong Chong is the Founder and Managing Partner of Ascent Capital Partners. He has extensive experience in investments, corporate finance and corporate transformation, and deep operational knowledge of Myanmar’s corporate and business landscape.

Chong Chong has a proven track record in successfully investing, building and transforming businesses in Myanmar and in the region. Before starting Ascent Capital, he also founded O2 Asia Ventures, a Myanmar-focused investment and advisory firm.

Prior to starting his own entrepreneurial journey, Chong Chong held various senior management positions. He was the Group Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy at Capital Diamond Star Group (CDSG), a leading conglomerate in Myanmar, where he led the formation of several local-foreign joint ventures and its corporate transformation efforts. Before moving to Myanmar, he worked at Temasek, EY, KPMG and Citibank, in Singapore and China, where he was involved in investment management, strategic planning and financial advisory.

He has in-depth experience in various industries, including agriculture, consumer, food, retail, real estate and financial services.

Chong Chong graduated from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, with a Bachelor’s Degree (with Honours) in Business Studies, specialising in Banking and Finance. He is also a CFA charterholder.

He also contributes actively to the Myanmar-Singapore community by serving as the Treasurer & Business Committee Member of the Singapore Association of Myanmar (SAM).

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Tee Keong is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Ascent Capital Partners. He has comprehensive experience in investments and portfolio management, with strong insights particularly in the consumer-related sectors.

Tee Keong was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Private Equity (“MPE”), the private equity arm of Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”), and an Investment Director at Navis Capital Partners, a premier regional private equity firm.

In his previous role at MPE, Tee Keong successfully raised approximately USD100 million seed capital from Maybank and subsequently launched an Asian private equity growth fund in 2014. In addition to leading M&A transactions, he was also responsible in managing all aspects of the business, ranging from developing new investment strategies, managing legacy funds to ensuring Maybank’s operational and risk management compliance requirements are adhered to.

Tee Keong has been involved in acquisitions as well as divestments, encompassing a broad range of sectors across the Asian region and Myanmar. He has presided over restructurings, turnarounds, IPO as well as buyouts and minority acquisitions.

Throughout his career, he has also sat on numerous boards of the investee companies and participated actively in their corporate strategy, value-adding initiatives such as assisting in new product roll-outs, new market expansions, follow-on M&A activities and restructuring.

Tee Keong was an MBA scholar and holds an MBA from the Georgetown University, Washington D.C., United States.

Tham Chee Chung, CFA

Senior Director

Chee Chung is a senior member of our Ascent team, and is in charge of managing the investment team. He has over 17 years of experience in South-East Asian frontier markets such as Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. In these countries, he has worked with development finance institutions such as the International Finance Corporation, as well as with other investment funds. He began his investment career in Singapore with the corporate venture capital fund of the incumbent telecom operator in the early 2000s. Chee Chung is a CFA charterholder and holds an MBA from the University of Melbourne (U21 Global Program), Australia.

Thiha joined our team in 2019, and is involved in deal origination and execution, and leading analysts in the deal process. Before joining Ascent, he worked at Myanmar Investments International Limited, and was responsible for deal origination, execution, closing and monitoring of portfolio companies for more than 3 years. Thiha is a CFA charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Business Management Degree (majoring in Quantitative Finance and Applied Statistics) from the Singapore Management University, Singapore.

Pyae is the latest member of our Ascent team, and is involved in deal origination and execution, and leading analysts in the deal process. He is also involved in managing the corporate communications function. Previously, he was an Investment Associate at Myanmar Investments International Limited. He also worked at Tractus Asia, a regional management consulting firm, for 5 years advising clients on foreign direct investments into Myanmar and other ASEAN countries. Pyae holds a Bachelor of Business Management Degree (majoring in Finance and Operations Management) from the Singapore Management University, Singapore.

Sandar joined our team in 2018 and is involved in deal origination and execution, and leading analysts in the deal process. She has over 7 years of experience working in private equity and deal advisory, with firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Emerging Market Investment Advisors and Myanmar Investments International Limited. Sandar is a CFA charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Bachelor of Business Management Degree (majoring in Finance (Investment Banking) and Marketing) from the Singapore Management University.

Her expertise spans from leading continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning to driving operational excellence cultures in organisations. Saw holds an Industrial and Systems Engineering Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, United States.

Brandon holds a Bachelor of Business Management Degree (majoring in Finance and Economics) from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, and was a scholarship recipient. During his undergraduate studies, Brandon represented his university in the CFA Institute Research Challenge.

She holds an MBA from the University of Northampton, United Kingdom.

Su is a new member of our Ascent team. As a Senior Portfolio Analyst, she is involved in various portfolio management and monitoring activities. She also drives ESG execution, working closing with the rest of the Ascent team and our investee companies to ensure that ESG requirements are fully integrated within the entire investment process, and that ESG standards are fully adhered with. Before joining Ascent, Su worked as an FP&A analyst at Agrocorp International. Su holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of London, United Kingdom, and a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore.
